My husband and I have nicknamed this week “Hell Week”. Coeliac Daughter has Activities Week at school. It’s a great system, where the children all choose a “package” of fun activities to do for the week. It’s also the week of school trips with children zipping off to Russia, France and Germany, to name but a few. Our daughter chose the Drama package which means she’ll be based at the school all week (but no uniform woo!) and they will be rehearsing and performing Macbeth (an abbreviated school edition).
Yesterday was the first day and hilariously my daughter was cast as… MACBETH. She was the only girl to audition for the part! Just goes to show that sometimes the best boy for the job, is a girl! 😉
But the reason we’ve nicknamed it Hell Week is that whilst all this is going on it also happens to be the week of the Big Show at her drama school. So after a full day of play rehearsals at school I’m then ferrying her across town to theatre rehearsals (and performances) until 9pm/10pm each evening. This week has to be run with military precision and I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
But whilst we may joke that it’s Hell Week my daughter considers it Heaven Week. So of course it’s worth it.
