As mentioned in a previous post back in January (click here) I have always been interested in the Russian royal family.
So recently we took the opportunity to visit an exhibit currently on at the Science Museum entitled The Last Tsar: Blood & Revolution.
The exhibition featured items belonging to the last Russian royal family including two Faberge eggs! I had hoped they’d be Easter egg sized and jewel encrusted.
(Like these bad boys!)
Sadly they were not of that variety (those are kept in St Petersburg) but they were impressive nonetheless. God knows how much they’re insured for! No photography permitted so no pretty pictures I’m afraid.
When we arrived a studious looking young man gave our small group a talk and accompanied us around the exhibit. We were then allowed to wander around at our leisure. You have until March 24th to visit and the best bit is that it’s FREE! You do need to book your slot though so get cracking! Click here
I’m also tempted to visit The Queen’s Gallery to see the Russia, Royalty & the Romanovs exhibit hosted by The Royal Collection Trust. There will be photographs, portraits, sculptures and yet more masterpieces from Fabergé! It’s on from November to April and tickets cost £12 per adult /£10 for concessions.
