As I’ve said before I’ve always been a bit lackadaisical about daily skincare. I just couldn’t get that excited about it but I’ve always been partial to a bit of pampering. I love a scrub, a mask, a serum… Well now I have managed to find the answer! And it’s not as hideously expensive as one might expect. The answer is Beauty Pie! Prepare to be obsessed.
Set up by Marcia Kilgore of Soap & Glory Limited, Bliss and FitFlop fame, this is luxe beauty at cost price! (Read about her here).
How It Works
Marcia knew that only a handful of labs make the vast majority of the world’s top skincare lines so decided to approach them to make the best products money can buy and then sell them at cost.
Want a luxe night cream that contains top grade active ingredients from the best beauty laboratory in Switzerland that would usually cost £100 from a brand? Buy it from Beauty Pie for £11.36. Odd price? Why not just charge £11.50? £12.00? Yes, well that 36p is important because there’s no rounding up. Sometimes the prices fluctuate slightly but that’s because you pay exactly what it cost to make and that’s it.
Marcia cut out the middleman. No advertising. No celebrity endorsement. No shops. She wanted to create a luxury beauty buyers club. By doing it this way we all get a bigger slice of the pie (hence the name Beauty Pie).
So how do they make their money? Well if you want to be in a club you need to pay a membership fee. This is on a sliding scale from £5 to £20 per month and it gives you a monthly spending allowance on the typical prices for the products. £5 a month buys you a £50 spend, £10 buys you £100… and so on. They also offer an annual membership of £99 that gives you £100 spending power per month (getting two months for free).
If you don’t spend your allowance it rolls over to the next month. So you can spend monthly or save it for a splurge. You can also buy upgrades which will allow you to shop above and over your membership allowance. They’ve pretty much thought of everything.
Please don’t confuse it with the likes of those beauty box subscriptions (like Birch Box or Glossy Box, both of which I have tried and subsequently cancelled). You have complete control. You decide what you receive and when.

So in summary I am now a Beauty Pie devotee! Their products speak for themselves, the packaging is high quality and they smell gorgeous. I even love the pink and black boxes they arrive in – it’s like Christmas!
Why blog about them? Because when I like something I really want to tell people about it. Pass it on, let’s all benefit! A typical beauty brand mark up can be 1000% (such a rip off!) so I’m personally in favour of a transparent system like this one. If they earn even just one new subscriber from this post then that’s a good thing.
Incidentally if anyone reading this fancies joining Beauty Pie you can click here for my ‘refer a friend’ link and then we can both have a free spending bonus! Woo hoo! No obligation of course and please do read all the T’s and C’s etc before signing up.
With that in mind here are my personal faves…
My Top 5
India Knight wrote for The Times describing Fruitizyme Five Minute Facial as “a hoover” for clogged pores. I adore this. I massage a grape sized amount on my face before I get in the bath and leave it for 5 – 10 minutes whilst I soak in the steam before rinsing off. My skin always feels super soft and smooth afterwards and I’ve seen a noticeable change in my pores, particularly on and around my nose. I am never giving this up. You’ll have to prise this product from of my cold dead hands.
Beauty Pie says : The best do-it-yourself facial peel we’ve ever found. With dead-cell sloughing glycolic acids, powerful pomegranate enzymes, gentle quartz and bamboo scrub grains, purifying salicylic acid and anti-free-radical stem cells from raspberries, this triple-tasking leave-on peeling mask is a marvel. Use weekly (at least) for a perennially fresh complexion.
Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser
A devoted user of Liz Earle’s Hot Cloth Cleanse & Polish for years (£17.00 100ml) I have now officially defected.
I love the non drip consistency of this gel and it works incredibly well with my Clarisonic or a muslin face cloth. A little goes a long way. Now using up my left over Liz Earle cleanser whilst I wait (desperately) for this product to come back into stock on the website. I’ll be buying this in bulk next time… and at just £6 per 100ml tube why wouldn’t I?
I’ve also tried Beauty Pie’s Double-Phase Daily Deep Rinse-Off Cleanser but this one from their Japanfusion range is, for me, far superior.
Beauty Pie says: Superlight. Perfectly effective. Delicately technical. And really cool to use. Japanese skincare was “all grown up” already by the time Korea started grabbing the limelight. This beautiful antioxidant-infused high tech gel-to-oil-to-milk cleansing balm demonstrates that mastery. Massage it on every night to tracelessly remove makeup, oils and pollution. For radiant, perfectly balanced skin, it’s a supreme clean.
Super Active Capsules
OK, so technically you could argue that these are two separate items and they are but I’ve lumped them in together. My blog, my rules.
I’ve read that these are the most loved pure Vitamin capsules in the world and it’s not hard to see why. I’ve never used capsules before. They always seemed a bit try-hard and let’s face it, stupidly expensive but these are affordable. In handy single doses (so there’s never any wastage!), biodegradable and they do exactly what they say on the jar. It’s love.
Beauty Pie says: Our super-targeted ‘one-shot’ face serum capsules hold high doses of stables actives, so you can ‘up your skincare-ante’ as-and-when-needed, with a simple twist, squeeze and tap.
Superactive capsules with a double dose of pure Vitamin C is boosted with Vitamin E Acetate for moisture and anti-oxidation. They also help to firm, smooth and brighten, minimise the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and help even out skin tone. It’s a daily must-have anti-ageing vitamin dose for your skin.
Superactive Capsules with a mixed dehydrated Hyaluronic Acid Microspheres, for instant plumping, smoothing and hydrating, and bio-identical pentapeptide 8 and tetrapeptide 8, to help prevent the formation of the skin’s internal ageing enzymes. Show us any skincare junkie who doesn’t need these.
Plantastic Micropeeling Super Drops
I’ve only just starting using this product and I feel like a mad scientist every time I use the pippette but I can see the difference it’s starting to make already. When looking up comments from Beauty Pie customers this product came up again and again. People are evangelical about it. I apply just a few drops down my T-zone when my skin is freshly cleansed and allow to dry for a minute or two before adding anything else.
Beauty Pie says: The best thing for keeping breakouts at bay, skin looking bright, pores-refined and tight, our Plantastic Micropeeling Super Drops are an easy, everyday addition to your skincare routine. Use once or twice a week for maintenance, or daily if you’re battling breakouts. With fruit-acids, micro-purifying biosurfactants, natural brighteners. It’s a 24/7 glow-giving one-serum wonder.
Overnight Skin Perfector
Beauty Pie have just released a new range called QI Energy which features a sleep mask which I haven’t tried yet and it may be even better but I can’t fault this product. I apply a generous amount to my face and neck twice a week about an hour before I go to bed and when I wake up my skin is clear and satin soft. What’s not to like?
Beauty Pie says: Get plump, hydrated, perfectly-smooth, soft skin. Our Overnight Skin Perfecting Gentle Moisture Balm is a genius Swiss mix of super hydrator Hyaluronic Acid, nourishing Shea Butter, antioxidant Portulaca Vita, hydrating anti-wrinkle Argan Oil and soothing panthenol. Use it as a twice-a-week super skin boost if you want skin that looks more dewy and youthful.
Now obviously these are just my personal highlights. They also have fragrance, scented candles, daily moisturisers, night creams, eye creams, serums, lip balms, masks and cleansers galore! They currently hold 8 different skin care collections, each with their own ethos and look and are adding new lines all the time. Most products are suitable for all skin types including sensitive or teenage (but always check) so make great gifts for loved ones. All products are 100% cruelty free.
They do make up which I’ve deliberately stayed away from in this post because I wanted to focus on the skincare but if you’re a cosmetics junkie do check them out!
You can see what others have bought and loved by looking up the hashtag #postyourpie on Twitter and Instagram. It’s the start of a revolution people! Let’s all have a bigger slice of the pie.
**Now here’s the small print. I am not affiliated with Beauty Pie. They did not pay me to write this post. All opinions expressed here are my own. I have genuinely bought and used these products.
